Giving hundreds of staff the power to design — without breaking the brand

Building the brand, one template at a time

challenge

Everybody loves to design, but not everybody's a designer

As our need for on-brand materials grew across the country, so did the number of people creating them. The problem? Not all of them were designers. We had an urgent need to empower our staff to create their own flyers, newsletters, and presentations without sacrificing brand integrity. We needed a solution that put control and quality in the hands of every team.

strategy

If you can't beat Canva, brand it.

The mission was simple: empower every team to create high-quality, on-brand content at lightning speed. I spearheaded the full rollout of Canva Enterprise across the company, leading the platform selection and building a custom brand hub. By developing and distributing templates with locked design elements, I empowered non-designers to produce polished work while ensuring a consistent, high-quality look. This initiative didn't just democratize design — it reduced one-off requests and put creative power directly into the hands of every team.

key takeaways

Creative freedom, without the free-for-all

We didn't just give teams a new tool — we gave them creative power. By implementing a brand-forward design system, we reduced creative bottlenecks and empowered non-designers to produce high-quality, on-brand work. It's the ultimate win-win: faster production with zero compromise on brand integrity.

don't just take my word for it

"This is just what all organizations should produce and how they should manage and report. I have shared it with the for-profit organizations I work with! The messaging and design and every detail is fantastic."
